No state-level examination for BArch courses

Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) KC Reddy announced that the Engineering and Medical Common Entrance Test 2007 (EAMCET 2007) will be conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on May 4, 2007. He announced the dates for various Entrance Examinations of Andhra Pradesh after holding a review meeting with the Common Entrance Committees. R Kotaiah will be the convener for EAMCET 2007.

Prof. Reddy said that no decision on introduction of weightage of marks from Intermediate are finalized and that a decision to this effect will be taken before the beginning of the 2007 academic sessions. Speaking on the topic of negative marking system, he said a committee would look into the aspect as to why the negative marking system was abolished since 1997.

On the entrance examinations for Architecture courses, Prof. Reddy said that since the Council of Architecture, New Delhi has already made mandatory of the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), no state-level entrance examination for architecture courses (BArch) will be conducted. With this, the Planning and Architecture Common Entrance Test 2007 (PACET 2007) will not be conducted.
