1. (a) A department of a University wants to develop a s/w system to reduce the amount of paperwork and for quick response. The main objectives of this s/w system are to maintain the following :
. records of student qireries
. on line sludent transcripts
. online student enrolment
For the above mentioned system
(i) Develop a System Requirement Specification.
(ii) Design DFD at two levels.
(iii) Identify the software modules and their functions.
(iv) Suggest a testing strategy for any two s/w modules proposed in (iii) above.
Make assumptions, if necessary. (20)

(b) Differentiate between Process and Product. Which one is more important and why ? (5)

(c) Explain at least five user interface design principles. (5)

2. (a) Explain linear sequential model and prototype model. Compare both of them with suitable example. (9)

(b) Draw the E-R diagram for airline reservation system. Mention various entities ard their attributes. Make assumptions, wherever necessary. (6)

3. (a) How can you enhance the maintainability during development ? Explain different activities. (5)

(b) Explain the following terms : (3)

(ii) Extensibility
(iii) Robustoess

(c) Write at least three differences between Forward Engineering and Reverse Engineering. (3)

(d) What is the purpose of Data Dictionary ? Explain with suitable examples. (4)

4. (a) What is Risk Management ? Explain five risk management techniques. (7)

(b) How can metrices be helpful in s/w Process improvement ? Explain. Compare function oriented metrices with size-oriented metrices. (Mention at least three differences) (8)

5. (a) Write at least five differences between Black Box Testing and White Box Testing. (5)

(b) Write at least five differences between Data Flow Diagrams and E-R diagnms. (5)

(c) Why is Reliability, an external attribute of the software ? List three internal product attributes that could affect reliability. (5)
