2. What do you understand by motivation in the context of second language learning ? How is instrumental rnotivation different from integrative motivation ? Give examples to support your answer. 10+10:20

3. Distinguish between animal and human communication. Mention the core features of human communication and show how these are unique to human language. 10+10:20

4. What do you understand by 'Code - mixing' and 'Code - switching'? As a teacher of English do you find their use beneficial in the classroom? Discuss. 10+10:20

5. What is contrastive analysis ? Do you agree with the view that a systematic contrastive analysis can predict potential sources of errors that a learner of L2 would face ? Discuss by giving examples from Hindi or your mother tongue. 5+15:20

6. What is meant by "Language disorders" ? Mention two kinds and their effect on the language learner's abilities. 10+10=20
