1. Write short notes on any four of the following : (4x5=20) (i) Characteristics of underprivilegedl earners (ii) Helping children with hearing and speech impairment (iii) Phonic method of teaching reading (iv) Grammar games (v) Dealing with errors (vi) Stages in the writing process
2. What are the component skills of listening ? How will you help your children develop different listening skills ? (8+12)
3. As an elementary school teacher, what opportunities can you provide to the children to learn oral expression in English? (20)
4. What do you mean by reading readiness for beginners? What will be the consequences if this factor is ignored in an elementary classroom ? Discuss. (10+10)
5. What are the mechanics of writing? Discuss with special reference to spelling. Suggest two exercises to teach spelling. (5+10+5)
6. Compare the holistic and the analytical approaches as ways of evaluating writing. Which one would you adopt and why ? (15+5)
7 . What is a cloze exercise ? What is its rcle in teaching reading ? Explain by giving examples of different types of cloze exercises. (5+15)
