MEG-5 : LITERARY CRITICISM AND THEORY

Note : Question no. 1 is compulsory. Answer five questions in all. All questions carry equal marks.

2. Why does Plato declare the role of the poet as subversive ? Explain. (20)

3. What are Wordsworth's views on poetic diction ? (20)

4. Explain Eliot's view of impersonality How does he link it up with the poet ? (20)

5. Discuss the relationship between base and superstructure in Marxist theory. (20)

6. Bring out the meaning of 'gynocriticism'. How does Showalter use it in her criticism ? (20)

7. The reader writes/rewrites the text in every act of reading/re-reading it. Comment. (20)

8. "The wisdom of the text is self-destructive. Ellaborate in the light of deconstruction. (20)
