Callers expresses apprehension over students taking photos of room mates

As a precautionary measure, the Andhra University officials on Tuesday banned use of camera cell phones at the Ladies hostel at Maharanipeta. The AU Vice Chancellor, L Venugopal Reddy issued an order to this effect and asked the AU Ladies Hostel Chief warden B Ratna Kumari to write to the parents of inmates about the ban.
The University officials maintained that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure. Sources close says that the decision was taken in the wake of anonymous calls received by the Vice Chancellor and the registrar from some of the inmates of the ladies hostel a few day ago.
The anonymous callers are learnt to have informed the University authorities about some girl students carrying camera cell phones and expressed apprehension over these students taking the photographs of their fellow inmates in unprepared situations in their privacy. The matrons found nearly ten camera cell phones were found with some inmates and reported the matter to the Vice Chancellor.
