Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad chosen for the campus

The State Cabinet under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday has decided to partner with the premier technological university – the Georgia Tech University and will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with it on June 5, 2007. The University will have to take the mandatory permissions from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer courses in the country.
US university officials plans to open its campus at Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Campus will be ready within a year time while the Visakhapatnam campus will come up in the second phase of its expansion. Sources reveal that the government has decided to provide Georgia, though AP Invest, a 20 acre land in Hyderabad and 70 acre in Visakhapatnam free of cost for setting up of the campuses.
Actually called as the Georgia Institute of Technology, the insitute is popular as Georgia Tech. The institute, located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is established in October 1885 and has over 900 faculty staff and 16,793 students on its rolls.
