The University of Hyderabad is accorded the distinction by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, with the approval for the establishment of a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) on the University Campus at the School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, will fund the Technology Business Incubator at a total cost of Rs.396.30 lakhs. The breakup includes Rs. 80 lakhs for Land and building renovation and Furnishing, Rs. 145 lakhs for Thrust area Equipments, Rs. 30 lakhs for Office equipments, Rs. 136.30 lakhs for Recurring cost for five years and Rs.5.0 lakhs for other expenditure. University of Hyderabad, will provide the required built up space complete with utilities, cubicles, lab space, common shared facilities etc. for the incubatees in addition to the administrative office space for the TBI.

The Technology Business Incubator (TBI) will focus mainly on "Pharma Biotechnology, Renewable Energy and Information Technology" and will be coordinated by Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Dean, School of Management Studies.
