University of Hyderabad - UoH, Dept of Mathematics to host the prestigious ICM 2010

Event to be hosted by the National Board of Higher Mathematics and the University of Hyderabad

The next International Congress of Mathematics (ICM) is being held in August 2010. This event is being hosted by the National Board of Higher Mathematics (a board constituted by the Dept of Atomic Energy) and the University of Hyderabad. ICM is held every four years and is the most important gathering of mathematicians in the world. The Fields Medal (often referred to as the "Nobel Prize" for mathematics) is awarded during this congress. In the run up to the ICM, the organizing committee is holding a talk on RAMANUJAN by Prof. R Balasubramanian, Director of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai at the main hall of St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet at 2:00 PM on 22nd June 2009.
