Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswavidyalayam (SPMVV) is making arrangements to host the 23rd Inter University South Zone festival from November 12 to 16. Nearly 2,000 participants from 50 universities in South India are expected to participate in the festival. The festival is in five categories viz., music, dance, Theatre, literature and fine arts which are again broadly categorized into 27 events.
Speaking to media on Friday, the Vice Chancellor Veena Noble Dass said that the participants would be shortlisted at the university level itself in the intra-varsity competitions and the festival will be strictly organized in accordance with the guidelines of the Association of Indian Universities. She further said that it was a great honor for the University which is celebrating silver jubilee year to host such a prestigious event. She added that four zonal events are organized in the country and the venues are carefully selected by an expert panel of All India Universities based upon several criteria. The event also provides a platform for the women's university to showcase its administrative abilities and also offer an opportunity for the students to interact with the students of other universities.
15 committees have set up to make necessary arrangements for the event that will be held on the university campus. A grand procession of the participants in their tradition dress will be taken out in the town to mark the inaugural ceremony on November 12. The winners of the South Zone Youth Festival will be selected for participation in the National Youth Festival to be held in Assam.
