About the course

Guru Jambheshwar University (GJU) is an A grade NAAC Accredited University. At the Department of Biotechnology of GJU, students admitted to the programme are eligible for the award of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology on successful completion of the course.

This is a DBT-sponsored programme offering courses on Introductory Biotechnology, Structure, Function & Metabolism of Biomolecules, Cell Biology, General & Applied Microbiology and Introduction to Computers & Programming, Biochemical & Biophysical Techniques, Gene Structure Function & Regulation, Immunology & Animal Cell Culture, Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, Fermentation Technology, Genetic Engineering, Enzymology & Enzyme Technology, Molecular Genetics, Food Biotechnology, Introductory Bioinformatics, Agricultural Biotechnology & IPR, Environmental Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology. The students have to undergo a three to four weeks of in Plant / Summer Training in various Institutes / Industries during summer vacations of the first year. A 14 to 16 weeks of Investigation Problem during the 4th semester forms an integral part of the program. The courses offered are innovative in several respects with major thrust being all research areas pertinent to Plant Biotechnology & Food Biotechnology
