National Institute of Technology Srinagar - Admissions to MTech 2008 Program

Applications are invited to the following Post Graduate programmes for the Academic Session 2008-09:

M. TECH. PROGRAMMES:

1. Civil Engineering:
i) Water Resource Engg: Disciplines that are eligible for admission: B. E/B. Tech.Civil Engg.

ii) Structural Engineering: Disciplines that are eligible for admission: B. E/B. Tech.Civil Engg.

2. Electronics & Comm. Engineering: Communication & Information Technology: Disciplines that are eligible for admission: B.E/B.Tech. Mech. Engg.

3. Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical System Design: Disciplines that are eligible for admission: B.E./B.Tech. Electronics & Comm. Engg./ Elect. Engg./ Computer Sciences & Engg./Information Tech.

ELIGIBILITY

GATE qualified and sponsored in-service candidates having passed the prescribed qualifying examination with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.75 in 0-10 scale grading system or 60% marks in aggregate. However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 6.25 or 55% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Candidates without GATE score but with minimum CGPA of 6.75 or 60% marks in aggregate can also apply. Candidates seeking admission under sponsored quota must have a minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and research institution/any government department/autonomous organization, in the relevant field in addition to the eligibility criteria mentioned above. They have to apply in prescribed form (NITS//AC/01) along with the application form (NITS/AC/02 through their employers with suitable endorsement. All sponsored candidates satisfying the above criteria will be called for written test. In case the sponsored candidates fail to produce sponsorship certificate at the time of admission, their admission will stand cancelled. Written test shall be conducted for all the candidates. Candidates expecting to complete Bachelors degree by the end of July 2008 with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 or 60% marks are also eligible to apply.

Duration of course:

1. Full time - 2 years
2. Part time - 3 years

Application form may be downloaded and the filled in application form be sent to Dean, Academic Affairs, National Institute of Technology, Hazratbal, Srinagar – 190 006 (J&K) along with photo copies of relevant documents and non-refundable demand draft of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 200/- in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) in favour of Director, National Institute of Technology, Srinagar payable at any bank at Srinagar. Last date for receiving the application form is 25.06.2008. Application forms received after due date will not be considered.
