Eligibility Criteria / Entry Requirements

Admission is open to the Master of Computer Applications Course to all the candidates who have passed a Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum three years duration. However, he/she shall have studied Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Programming/Computer Science/Computer application as one of the subjects at 10+2 level./ Degree level. Any other examination recognised by this University as equivalent thereto. Admission to MCA Course shall be open for the candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate, in the examinations considered for the award of class. However, in the case of candidate belonging to SC/St and any other group classified by the Government of Karnataka for such purpose from time to time, the aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations shall not be less than 45%.

Mode of Admission

There shall be an entrance examination for admission to the MCA course. The candidates seeking admission in any of the engineering colleges affiliated to VTU shall have to take this examination. There shall be an Admission Committee for MCA Course in each college consisting of the Principal of the college as Chairman, HOD and one Senior Staff Member of the department and one Nominee of the VTU as its members. The Admission Committee shall conduct the said examination and shall also conduct the interview of the candidates.The Principal should approach the University for the Nominee of the VTU. Based on the performance of the Candidates in the entrance examination, marks in the qualifying examinations and performance in the interview taken together, a rank list shall be prepared and admission shall be made in order of merit accordingly. Merit quota MCA seats are filled by VTU through entrance Examination conducted by it.
