About the Course

Students joining the programme are eligible for the award of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology on successful completion of the course. Our School of Biotechnology is under the Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

The School of Biotechnology offers teaching of Biomolecules, Cell Biology, Engineering Principles, Computer Applications and Biostatistcs, Macromolecules and Analytical techniques in the first semester; Molecular Biology, Microbial Physiology & genetics, Biology of the Immune system, Environmental Biotechnology, Enzyme technology in the second semester; Bioprocess Engg. & Technology, Animal Cell Science & Technology, Genetic Engineering, Plant Biotechnology in the third semester. The fourth semester is entirely for research project. The School also encourages the students for summer training in other Institutes/Industries for six weeks after completion of first year. Research areas are: enzyme technology, molecular biology, plant tissue culture, and environmental biotechnology.

Admission / Hostel Fee

Department fee: Rs.10,000/- per semester
Registrar's office fee:
(for boys: Rs.700/- in first and third semester; and Rs.300/- during second and fourth semester; for girls: Rs.520/- in first and third semester; and Rs.120/- during second and fourth semester respectively)
Annual hostel fee: Rs.6,000/- plus Rs.1500/- refundable caution money
Enrolment fee: Rs.35/- and Rs.100/- immigration fee for students coming from outside the state.
