Tamil Nadu Government bans cell phone use in School premises

Chennai, October 16, 2007

The Government of Tamil Nadu, taking a queue from Karnataka, has decided to ban the use of cell phones in school premises. The announcement to this effect is made by School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu that the Government is receiving increased number of complaints from the teaching community and the parents that cell phone usage is diverting studies of the students.
