MTech programme is offered in the Departments of Aerospace Engg., Applied Mechanics, Chemical Engg., Civil Engg., Computer Science and Engg., Electrical Engg., Mathematics (Industrial Mathematics and Scientific Computing), Mechanical Engg., Metallurgical and Materials Engg., Ocean Engg. and Physics (Solid State Technology).
Qualification
(a) Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture or equivalent, or Master's degree in Mathematics/Physics/Life Sciences or related subjects or Professional qualification like AMIE and other Associate membership as specified in the MTech Admission Brochure and
(b) valid GATE score.
Candidates graduating/graduated with B.Tech. degree from IITs with CGPA of 8.0 and above in the case of General Category and 7.5 and above in the case of SC/ST Category can apply without GATE score. Seats are reserved for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities as per GOI rules.
Assistantship
Candidates admitted to MTech. programme are offered Half-time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) of Rs.5000/-p.m. Additional admission to a few candidates may be offered without HTTA. Opportunity exists for a limited number of candidates to carry out MTech. projects in Germany.
Under Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) Graduate Fellowship scheme, one candidate each in Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering will be selected and will be offered a monthly stipend of Rs.11,000/- p.m. for two years with a one time educational material allowance of Rs.5,000/-. How to Apply
Request for application form should be sent along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities) drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of the Registrar IIT Madras payable at Chennai together with two address slips (50 mm x 100 mm) with the applicant's address in bold letters, to the Chairman, MTech. Admission Committee, GATE Office, IIT Madras, Chennai 600 036 as per the schedule given below
