Admission to MTech User Oriented Programme in Medical Biotechnology

Applications are invited for admission to 4 semester MTech Medical Biotechnology discipline under User Oriented Programme, Sponsored by Frontier LifeLine & KM Cherian Heart Foundation, Mogappair, Chennai 600 101. Biotechnology is a discipline which is growing at a rapid pace. Trained manpower in Medical Biotechnology is in short supply. Internationally, the employment scope, growth potential and research opportunities in this expanding area are far superior to and surpass those of many in professional fields including medicine. The course stresses hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

Eligibility

B.Tech./B.E in Biotechnology or related fields/M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, or Life Science disciplines or equivalent M.B.B.S/B.Pharm/B.V.Sc. with First class or 60% marks/ 6.5 CGPA (55% marks/ 6.0 GPA for SC/ST candidates). Except those candidates with a M.B.B.S degree, other candidates need a valid GATE/qualified in NET (CSIR/UGC) / ICMR / ICAR test or two years professional experience in a relevant field.

Selection

Candidates will have to appear for the written test and interview conducted by IIT Madras, at their own cost.

Sponsorship

The selected candidates not receiving salary in their organization will be offered a stipend of Rs. 8000 /- p.m. by the sponsor. The sponsor reserves the right to insist that the candidate need to execute a bond with Frontier Lifeline or any of their nominee(s).

The application form and academic details can be downloaded from below link or can be obtained by writing to The Co-ordinator, UOP in Medical Biotechnology, Biotechnology Department (MSB 239),IIT Madras, Chennai 600 036 by sending a Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank for Rs. 300/-drawn in favour of “The Registrar, IIT Madras”, payable at Chennai.
