Madurai Kamaraj University - Admissions to various MSc, MCA, MBA (Hospital Administration) Courses

Last date for submission of application forms is Feb 14, 2007

Applications are invited for admission to the following courses offered by the Schools of the University for the academic year 2007-2008.

Qualifications Required:

1)M.Sc., Microbial Gene Technology (M.Sc.,MGT):A first class degree in science courses where Biological Sciences – Botany, Zoology, Microbiology,Microbial Techbnology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, etc. is either a Major or an Ancillary subject. Students from professional courses such as MBBS, BVSc, BDS, B.Pharm, B.Sc., Agriculture and related subjects from a recognized Indian or Foreign University are also eligible.

2)M.Sc., Biochemical Technology (M.Sc., BCT) – A pass in B.Sc degree (55% marks in Part III) in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Nutrition and Dietetics / Microbiology / Biology / Botany / Zoology / Chemistry / Triple major with Biochemistry and allied subjects.

3)M.Sc., Genomics – A Bachelor’s degree in Science (55% marks in Part-III) in any branch of Life Sciences - Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology or equivalent - Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Veterinary Sciences and Agriculture from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. Students with B.Tech. Degrees in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Bioinformatics, with Biology at +2 level are also qualified to apply.

M.Sc Genomics is offered under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). ( Note: A minimum of 40% seats will be allocated to candidates from out side Tamilnadu State. The above conditions is subject to the approval of UGC for the academic year 2007-2008)

For SC/ST candidates a pass in Bachelor degree in the above disciplines is the required minimum for all the above courses.

Admission for the above courses will be made as per rules and regulations of the University.

Placement – Excellent Track Record of placement is available for all the above courses.

Admission Process – Admission is based on Entrance Test, Seminar and Interview. Short-listed candidates, will be called for Seminar and Interview at Madurai. Admission is based on merit and reservation policy of the Government of Tamilnadu.

A limited number of seats are available under NRI/ Foreign students category

Filling with any wrong information or suppression of information may result in punitive action. Mere appearance for the entrance Examination does not mean that the candidate is eligible for admission.

4) M.Sc Sub – Aqua Marine Ecology & Toxicogenomics (SAME &TG): Candidate with a Bachelor Degree (55% marks in Part III ) in any branch of Life Sciences (Biology Bio-chemistry / Botany / Zoology / Marine Biology / Microbiology/ Bio-Technology)of a recognized Indian or Foreign University are eligible. Candidates should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the subject (Part III) for all Community categories and 50% marks for SC/ST community.

Selection Procedure:

a) The Selection of the candidate is based on the marks in Entrance Test

b) Selection of candidates would be based purely on merit and following the Government of Tamilnadu Reservation Policy.

Limited Number of seats are available under NRI/Foreign student category.

5) Post M.Sc Certificate Course in Plant Genetic Engineering (PMCPGE) (Self Finance):

A First Class (60% and above) M.Sc., Degree in Biology / Botany / Zoology / Bio-chemistry / Bio Technology / Micro Biology / Life Sciences /Agriculture or other related M.Sc Courses.

Candidates who are appearing for the final Semester /year examinations may also apply, provided the candidate should have scored 60% or above in the first three semesters.

Selection Procedure:

The selection is based on Entrance Test conducted by the Madurai Kamaraj University.

6) M.Sc Electronics & Instrumentation: Candidates should have completed B.Sc (Physics, Electronics, Applied Science, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation or Computer Science) degree or any other B.Sc degree with Physics or Electronics as ancillary subject with 50% marks in Part–III. For SC/ST candidates, minimum of pass is required. Candidates appearing for the UG final semester examinations in April/May 2007 are also eligible to apply for admission for the year 2007-08. Candidates should have studied under 10+2+3/4 pattern.

7) Master of Business Administration:

A pass in any degree. The regulation, scheme of examination and syllabi for the course are as prescribed by the University from time to time.

8) Master of Computer Applications:

The candidates should be graduate in any discipline of Madurai Kamaraj University with Mathematics as compulsory subjects at 10+2 level or should have passed the degree examination equivalent to that of Madurai Kamaraj University with Mathematics as compulsory subject at 10+2 level OR any degree with Computer Science/ Applications as Major / Vocational Subjects.

The syllabus content of the subject (i) Business Mathematics & Operational Research (ii) Business Mathematics & Statistics / Numerical Methods and Mathematics at +2 level are different. Hence the student who have studied (i) & (ii) are NOT ELIGIBLE.

9)M.B.A. Hospital Administration:

A pass in any degree. Candidates who have appeared for the final year UG degree exam during April/May 2006 can also apply. Candidates who have studied under 10+2+3/4 pattern are only eligible for admission.

Applicants seeking admission to M.B.A.(Full time) and M.B.A(Hospital Administration) are required to appear for a Common Entrance Test to be conducted by the Madurai Kamaraj University on 18th March 2007 followed by Group discussion and personal interview.

10.00. a.m. to 11.40 a.m. - M.Sc., MGT, PMCPGE

12.20 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. - M.Sc., BCT, M.Sc., SAME &TG

3.20 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. - M.Sc., Genomics, M.Sc Electronics & Instrumentation

Entrance Test Date: 18.03.2007

10.00. a.m. to 12.30 p.m. - M.B.A/ M.B.A.(Hospital Administration)

2.00 p.m. to 3.40 p.m. - M.C.A.(Master of Computer Applications)

The tests may be conducted at Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram centres. The University reserves the right to cancel any center without assigning any reason.

NRI/Foreign Students category:

Students who wish to apply under NRI category may download the prospectus and application form. Duly filled-in application may be forwarded to the Course Coordinator by paying US$ 200 Draft drawn in favour of THE REGISTRAR, MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY payable at MADURAI towards the application and registration fee. Selection of NRI candidates will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination.

Note: The Demand Draft should have been obtained after the date of admission notification and before the last date for receipt of filled-in application.

Chalans, cheques, postal orders, money orders and cash will not be accepted.

The University reserves the right to cancel any admission obtained on false claim at any point of time. Fee particulars for the above courses are to be referred to in the respective prospectus.

The candidates should have studied under 10+2+3 or 4 pattern. Candidates who have completed or those who will be completing U.G. courses in April, 2007 are also eligible to apply.
