National institute for the Visually Handicapped(NIVH) is located in the famous Doon Valley, well known for its healthy climate, which is easily accessible by Rail, Road, and Air from all parts of the country. Historically, the Institute owes it's origin to the St Dustan's Hostel for the War Blinded established in 1943. The Institute is a premier organization in the country engaged in Rehabilitation, Education, Training and other services for the Visually Handicapped and professionals working for the same. It has it's activities and services spread in all parts of the country. The Institute has a vast experience in conducting various training programs and it also have a team of highly qualified and trained faculty, which provides to establish the quality training.

Bachelor of Mobility Science B.M.Sc (V.I) Visually Impaired 1-year Degree course is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council Of India (Govt of India) and affiliated to H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal. This Degree Course equips it's scholars as Orientation & Mobility and Special Physical Education Professionals of the Visually Impaired (Blind and Low Vision) in various, Educational and Rehabilitation settings. It will enable the successful students to obtain job as Mobility Teachers, and Special Physical Education Teachers in special schools for the visually impaired. They can also work as Mobility Professionals / Specialist in various Rehabilitation Centers for the V.I. such as District Disability Rehabilitation Centers, Composite Rehabilitation Centers etc. These professionals can also be employed in integrated education for Disabled Children and Community Based Rehabilitation Programme for the Disabled as Mobility Professionals.

The National Institute under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment invites applications for admission to the 2006-07 session of Bachelor of Mobility Science (Visually Impaired) – 1 year Degree Course.

Eligibility for Admission:

1. Age: Minimum 20 years at the time of Entrance Test and Upper age limit: 28 years
2. Nationality: Indian
3. Academic Qualifications: Any Bachelor Degree in Indian recognized University
4. Examination Center: Dehradun Uttaranchal
5.The examination will take place on 15th October, 2006
6. Reservation: Reservations for SC/ST/BC/Ex-Servicemen/Dependents of freedom fighter will be provided as per norms of H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal
7. Sale of Information Brochure-cum-Application Forms:
The Information Brochure cum Application Forms will be sold from 18th Sep. 2006. The same will be sold up to 29th Sep. 2006.

Information Brochure-cum-Application Form can be obtained on payment of Rs. 300/- only for General Category and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST candidates in cash or by draft in favour of the Director, N.I.V.H. Payable at Dehradun in person. If the same is required by post Rs. 100/- have to be included. Application meant for SC/ST candidates, if used by General candidates will be rejected.
