Q 1.Describe the specification and characteristics and application of the following devices: (2 Marks)

(ii)What type of Switching techniques are used in ATM and what is the significance of ATM? (1 Mark)

(iii)Discuss the ATM cell format (1 Mark)

Q 3.(i)Name all the basic network topologies and describe advantages of each type of network topology (1 Mark)

(ii)With respect to WAN, distinguish between virtual circuit and datagram services (1 Mark)

(iii)What are the different service primitives in the OSI model? (1 Mark)

Q 4.(i) List and describe all the layers of OSI model with the protocol functionalities and standards. (1 Mark)

(ii)What are the issues to be considered in designing different layers in the network models? (1 Mark)
