This is a Tutor Marked Assignment. There are Four questions in this assignment. Answer all the following questions. You may use illustrations and diagrams to enhance explanations.

Question 1: The functions below have roots in the intervals which are specified on their right sides. Compute the roots of these functions in each of the intervals to an assured three significant figures by use of bisection method:

(i) ex-3x, on (0,1) and (1,2)
(ii) x2 - &root;x -2 on (1,2)
(iii) In x + -2 on (1,2) (3 marks)

Question 2: Determine the roots of the functions in Question no.1 above using secant method. Use the interval end points as initial values. (2 marks)

Question 3: Solve the following system of simultaneous linear equations using Gauss elimination method.

6x1 + 4x2 + 3x3 = 13
7x1 + 4x3 = 11
4x1 + 4x2 = 8 (3 marks)

Question 4: Use partial pivoting to perform elimination in the solution of problems in Q.No.3 (2 marks)
