Question 1: Write an algorithm/program that accepts a decimal number as input and converts it into hexadecimal representation. Also give the logic behind the algorithm, and an example of the use of the algorithm. (2 Marks)
Question 2: Give the complete specification for the passes of a two-pass assembler, indicating:
You must specify why some information is in the form of tables in the main memory while other information is in the form of files. Also recommend appropriate methods of organization of the tables and files used in the two-pass assembler. (2 Marks)
Question 3: Differentiate between macros and subroutines with respect to the following parameters:
Question 4: Justify the following lines with the help of an example.
“It is possible to support multiprogramming without using time-sharing. However, it is impractical to support time-sharing without using multiprogramming.”

Question 5: Write the UNIX commands for the following: (2 Marks)
(i) To view all processes running including user and system processes .
(ii) To produce list of all files in the current directory without headers, but in three columns.
(iii) There are two sorted lists of names. How will you find out the count of names that are common to both?
(iv) To find out the number of times the character “?” occurs in a file.
