1. What is identity? How is Voss's identity determined in the novel?

2. Is rootlessness a recurring image found in the poems At Shagger's Funeral and The Quality of Sprawl? Comment.

3. Critically analyse the metonyms, the metaphors and the epiphanies in Remembering Babylon.

4. What were the chief concerns of the novelists during the first phase (1800s) in the development of the Australian novel?
