IIT to set shop abroad
New Delhi, September 15, 2003
The Government proposes to set up Campuses of IITs abroad. This follows growing demand from developing nations including Sri Lanka, Singapore, Mauritius and countries of West Asia and South East Asia.

IIT intake up by 10,000 in five years

The student intake in IITs has gone up by nearly 10,000 in the last five years. From 14,906 in 1997-98, it has increased to 24,828 in 2002-03.

595 Students take admission at ANGRAU

OU B.Ed students demonstrates asking for exams

Students of affiliated B.Ed colleges of Osmania University demonstrated outside the offices of the Registrar and the Vice Chancellor demanding for the conduction of their exams in December 2003. The Police intervened when they tried to enter into VC Office. Students from over 30 college participated in the demonstration. The delay in announcing the results of EdCET and granting affiliations to new colleges has delayed the academic schedule of the students. The Registrar categorically rejected the offer. He said that a meeting with Principals of all colleges will be held to discuss about the issue.

Learner Interface Facility at SDE, Andhra University

The School of Distance Education of Andhra University announced that it will be introducing Learner Interface Facility which will store all the information and records in a computer. The facility which is one of its kind in the state costs Rs. 12 Lakh and will be setup with the help of funds from the Distance Education Council.

Andhra University detention system still under proposal

Registrar of Andhra University MS Prasada Rao said that the University is still looking into the detention proposal. He said that the hostels of the University will be reopened soon.

For Lateral Entry into B.Arch course, the eligibility is as per the guidelines of Council of Architecture and All India Council for Technical Education - only the candidates who have passed (10+2) and Diploma in Architecture from an institution recognized by the Council of Architecture and AICTE are eligible.

Admissions to 12 Minority Colleges in AP
The Planning, Coordination and Monitoring Board (PCMB) said that it will be conducting its own Entrance Exam for the 12 Engineering collages under its control. Thus, candidates who appear for EAMCET, also have to write the PCMB Entrance Exam which is expected to be conducted on similar lines to EAMCET for getting admission in the 12 minority colleges.
