The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi organized the International Colloquium of the Vice Chancellors of South Asian Universities on Higher Education in the context of Globalisation. Over 25 vice chancellors from different South Asian countries and scores of delegates from different parts of India participated in the six technical and working group sessions creating a pool of rich and varied inputs on various issues emerging out of the discussions.
The Colloquium ended on March 4, 2005 with the 'Delhi South Asian Declaration on Higher Education. The declaration highlighted for 'combined regional effort to meet the challenges of the rapidly globalising world by making the universities dynamic through establishing more organic linkages among the universities and people'
