Invites for Dr. K.S.Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA)

Research Associates selected under the prestigious KSKRA programme are given an opportunity to work on R&D programmes of national importance relevant to the DAE mandate in one of the following advanced research centres of the Department:
1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.
2. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam.
3. Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore.
4. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Calcutta.
Up to 20 KSKRAs can be selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.18,000/- per month for a maximum period of 24 months. The KSKRAs anytime after completion of 9 months of associateship, subject to satisfactory performance, are generally absorbed as Scientific Officer/ Engineer-D. The associateships are available in the following broad disciplines:

Eligibility Criteria
A ) Minimum Educational Qualification and Experience:Selection and Appointment
Selection will be done by an interview committee (appointed by BRNS) from among the short listed candidates based on their qualification, published R&D work and performance in the interview. The selected candidates would be appointed as KSKRA for an initial period of one year, which is extendable by one more year based on performance during the first year. KSKRAs would be paid a consolidated sum of Rs. 18,000/- per month. Those candidates who are yet to receive their Ph.D. degree but have submitted their Ph.D. thesis, if found suitable by the interview committee in view of their expertise and academic record, would be first designated as Research Associate (RA) and paid Rs.11,000/- per month and only after completion of their Ph.D. and obtaining a provisional certificate, they would be designated as KSKRA and paid Rs.18,000/- per month. For all other benefits, their date of joining as RA will be treated as the date of joining KSKRA Scheme. In addition Rs.10,000/- per year will be paid as Educational Material Allowance. Associates will be provided Hostel accommodation, medical and leave benefits during the Associateship.
Career Development
After completion of 9 months of Associateship, subject to satisfactory performance as evaluated by the DAE unit concerned, KSKRAs are generally appointed as Scientific Officer/ Engineer-D (Rs.10,000-325-15,200). Additional increments are also awarded depending upon qualification, experience and performance during the Associateship. Exceptionally brilliant candidates with excellent track record in advanced technologies of relevance to DAE and having a Ph.D. may be considered for the higher pay scale of Scientific Officer/ Engineer-E (Rs.12,000-375-16,500). Total emoluments at the minimum of the pay scale inclusive of Basic Pay, Dearness Pay, Special Increments and other Allowances such as Dearness, City Compensatory, House Rent and Transport (if applicable) in a Class-A1 city as on 01.07.2006 is Rs.24,850/- for Scientific Officer/ Engineer-D and Rs.29,570/- for Scientific Officer/ Engineer-E. A comprehensive Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) for employees and their dependent family members is also available.
