Chennai, 6 September, 2006

1.Applications are invited for admission to BSMS/ BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS Courses for 2006-2007 in government and Self financing Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu from the candidates passed in Higher Secondary Courses.

2.The candidates are informed that only those who have appeared for TNPCEE 2006 conducted by Anna University, Chennai are eligible for admission to the above courses. The candidate who appeared in TNPCEE 2006 should have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the said Entrance Examination in the subjects of Physical Science and Biological Sciences taken together. However, for SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks shall be 30%. The Selection for admission will be made based solely on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Higher Secondary examination and in the Entrance Examination.

3.Application Form and Prospectus for BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS Courses will be available from 6-9-2006 onwards from the following Government Medical colleges.

a. The Principal, Govt. Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District.
b. The Principal, Govt. Siddha Medical College, Chennai – 106.
c. The Principal, Govt. Unani Medical College, Chennai – 106.
d. The Nodal Officer, Government Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College, Chennai – 106.
e. The Principal, Govt. Homoeopathy Medical College, Thirumangalam, Madurai District.

Applications for BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BNYS courses and prospectus etc., will be issued either in person or by post on written application with Crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in favour of Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Payable at Chennai obtained from any one of the Nationalised Banks on or after 6-9-2006. If the application is required to be sent by post ordinary postal stamp to the value of Rs. 70/- (Rupees seventy only) should be enclosed along with the requisition. Delay on the part of Postal Department will not be considered. The applications will be issued to the candidates on all days including all Saturdays and Sundays.

SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying the cost of application fee of Rs. 500/-

SC/ST candidates have to produce a Xerox Copy of the Community Certificate along with a requisition containing the following particulars for getting the application form. 1. Name, 2. Address, 3. School last studied 4. Whether the candidate belongs to SC or ST 5. Signature 6. Candidate should have passed in HSC., Examination (Evidence to be produced). 7. SC/ST (Tamil Nadu) candidates on production of attested Xerox copy of the community certificate along with the requisition as above may obtain the application form by post by sending a requisition with ordinary postal stamp to the value of Rs. 70/- (Rupees seventy only).

Note:

i.One application is enough for all the courses viz., BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS subject to eligibility and availability of seats under General Category and for Special Category they should fill up the Common Application form prescribed for General Category and also they should apply in the application form prescribed for Special Categories which could be obtained on payment of Rs. 100/- in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy payable at Chennai for each Special Category subject to the maximum of Three Special Categories. ii.The application forms issued to SC/ST candidates cannot be used by others.

4. Eligibility: Minimum qualification for BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS

(i) Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board in one and the same attempt in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks.

(a) Physics, Chemistry, Botony and Zoology. OR
(b) Physics, Chemistry, Botony with any other subject.
(c) For BSMS Course: In addition to the minimum eligibility marks mentioned in para 5, the candidate should have also studied in Tamil medium upto X Standard or Higher Secondary course OR
Should have passed Tamil as a subject in X Std. or in Higher Secondary course.
(d) For BUMS Course: In addition to the minimum eligibility marks mentioned in para 5, Candidates should have studied in URDU Medium upto X Std. OR

Should have passed Urdu/Arabic/Persian as a subject either in X Std or in Higher Secondary Course. OR

Should have passed the Addeeb-e-Fazil Examination or Entrance Examination of Affzal-Ul-Ulama Examination of the University of Madras to be eligible to apply for the BUMS course. Candidates who have studied HSC Couses with Vocational stream and Pre-University Course are not eligible to apply for this Course.

Note: Candidates who have passed any other equivalent examinations with same group of subjects mentioned above should produce the eligibility certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University before admission to the course.

5.Minimum Eligibility Marks: (BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS)

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Course (Academic) or equivalent examination should have obtained the following marks in their qualifying examinations.

1.For Open Competition:

a. A minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology (taken together)
b. Minimum of 50% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry and
c.Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks.

II. For Backward Classes:

a. A minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology (taken together)
b. Minimum of 50% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry and
c.Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 110 out of 200 marks.

III. For Most Backward Classes / Denotified Communities:

a. A minimum of 45% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology (taken together)
b. Minimum of 45% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry and
c.Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 100 out of 200 marks.

IV. For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes:

a. A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology (taken together)
b. Minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry and
c. Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks.

Note:

For BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS Courses

In the case of candidates, who have furnished the marks sheets of the qualifying examination, only in GRADES the minimum marks of the grades alone will be taken into consideration while determining the marks in the Science Subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology.

6.Age:

Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31-12-2006. No request for age relaxation will be entertained.

7.The last date for the issue of application 15-9-2006 upto 3.00 PM.

8.Completed application with all necessary enclosures should be delivered to the following address buly superscribed as Application for admission to BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS/BNYS/Course 2006-2007.
