Theory
Unit - I
Concepts of Merdelian genetics - interaction of genes - complementary, epistasis and polygemc inheritance.
Unit - II
Linkage - crossing over and recombination - gene mapping - chromosome theory of inheritance.
Unit - III
Sex determination in plants - sex linked inheritance and associated diseases - Haemophilia and
Colour blindness.
Unit - IV
Gene concept - exon, intron, cistron, recon, muton, gene regulation, LAC OPERON
Biostatistics
Unit - V
Mean, median and mode standard deviation - standard error - chi - square test
Basic principle of probability - application of statistics to genetics
Practical
1. Simple problems on dihybridratio and interaction of factors.
2. Construction of chromosome maps using 3 point test cross data.
3. Simple problems on the applications of Clii square method Submission of record.
