Semester II

PAPER III - GEOMORPHOLOGY

Unit I

Rocks : types and classification -. Igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, folding, faulting, earth quake and volcanoes

Unit II

Forces of gradation and weathering - mechanical and chemical weathering, mass wasting and mass movement

Unit III

Agents of Gradation-- Fluvial processes, erosion, transportation, deposition, resultant topography, glacio fluvial action - erosion and depositional work at the glacies - resultant topography

Unit IV

Eolian landscape - erosion - depositional work of the wind - resultant topography, wave action - erosive work of the waves, depositional work of the waves - shorelines of submergence and emergence.

Unit V

Underground water - water table - spring and their types, karst topography, normal cycle of erosion - Davis, Penk.
