Introduction - Scope and Content - Minerals - Classification - Distribution of Iron, Copper, Bauxite, Alloys
Unit II
Energy resources - conventional and non-conventional - Distribution of coal, petroleum, and natural gas - Electricity : Hydel and thermal - Atomic energy, Solar energy, tidal energy and geothermal energy.
Unit III
Agro-base and Mineral based industries - Factors of Location of Industries -. Weber's theory of industrial location - world distribution of major industries- iron and steal - ship building - auto mobile. Cotton textile industry.
Unit IV
Transportation - significance, modes - surface, water transport - their characteristic, advantages and disadvantages - major transport routes - ports and harbours.
Unit V
Trade - significane - kinds of trade - international trade: pattern, volume and composition; trade policies - reciprocal tracties, pacts - trade between the developed and developing countries - foreign trade of India.
