Practical III - Weather Maps and Projections
Unit I
Study of weather symbols, weather data and codes - station model - study and interpretation of Indian Weather Reports
Unit II
Interpretation of Weather reports according to seasons - study of cyclonic tracks
Unit III
Cylindrical Projection: equidistant, equal area and Mercator's Projection;
Conical Projection; One standard and Two standard parallels - Bonne's Projection and
Polyconic Projection.
Unit IV
Conventional (Whole World) Projections - Sinusoidal and Moliwids Projections - their interrupted types; choice of map projections.
Unit V
Definition of map projection - purpose of map projections - graphical construction and properties of the following map projection : Zenithal projection - equidistant, equal area, gnomonic and strereographic or orthomorphic projections.
