Semester I - Paper I - Principles of Interior Decoration-I (Only for X(D))

I. Definition - Introduction to art and design.
1. Elements of design line, direction shape of form, size, texture space and colour.
2. Design, structural and decorative design, characteristics of good structural and decorative design, types of decorative design. Naturalistic, stylised, abstract and geometrical design.
3. Principles of Design : Harmony balance, proportion, emphasis and Rhythm (Definition, types and its application to interior and exterior).
4. Colour qualities of colour, pigment, colour theory (Prang colour theory) colour hormonics, how to build a colour scheme - colour scheme to create an atmosphere of warmth, coldness, intensity etc - colour scheme for different rooms.
5. Floor finishes and covering to suit different income groups, different types of hard and soft floor coverings, care and maintenance.
