Semester III - Paper V - Applied Art Textiles

Number of Lecturer Hours/Week: 6
Theory: 3 hrs/week
Duration of Examination: 3
Examination Marks: 75
Credits: 4

To enable students

1. To understand art and apply its principles in the creation and selection of textiles and garments.

2. Develop design in textiles and apply the same on materials.

Unit - I

a) Application of art principles and elements of design in the selection of fabric.

b) Study of colour harmonies and colour systems; qualities of colour.

Unit - II

Fabric Painting - Media used, preparation and method of fabric painting.

Unit - III

a) Weaving - Parts of a loom

b) Basic weaving operation - plain, twill, satin.

Unit - lV

Embroidery and Trimming - Review of basic decorative stitches and trimmings.
