SYLLABUS

Application Oriented Subjects - MAO-II - Immunotechnology

Unit I :

Introduction: Scope of Immuntechnology. Preparation and purification of Antigens. Extraction of antigesns from pathogens, Parasites and other biological materials, Fractionation and purification. Preparation of synthetic antigens. Recombinant antigens.

Unit II :

Production, Purification and characterisation of antibodies; Immunisation procedures. Purification of immunoglobulins characterisafion of immunoglobulins.

Unit III :

Hybridoma and monoclonal antibody (Mcab) techniques. Production of marine hybridoma. Production of MCAs in cultures and animal (Ascites).Purification of MCAbs. Characterisation of MCAbs.Labelling of Antibodies.

Unit IV :

Tests: Agglutination tests; Compliment fixation tests, invivo tests Neutralisation tests: Immunodiffusion in gels; Radial immundiffusion inununoelectrophoresis; Radioinununoassays; Enzyme immunoassays; immunoblotting; immunohistochemistry and immunohistopathology, Immunofluorescence techniques.
