1. TECHNIQUES OF CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION

a. Selection, use and care of sewing machine and sewing tools.

b. Study of basic hand stitches - temporary and permanent.

c. Seams and seam finishes.

d. Methods of introducing fullness into a fabric - darts, tucks, pleats and gathers.

2. PRiNCIPLES OF PATTERN MAKING, FABRIC PREPARATION, PATTERN LAYOUT AND GARMENT CUTTING

a. Steps in preparing the basic bodies, sleeve and skirt pattern for children and adult women based on body measurement

b. Steps in fabric preparation.

c. Pattern layout

d. Methods of transferring pattern markings onto a fabric.

3. APPLICATION OF COMPUTER AIDED DESIGNING IN DRESS DESIGNING

PRACTICALS

1. BASIC SEWING PROCESSES

a. Hand stitches - Temporary and Permanent Stitches

b. Seams and seam finishes

c. Preparation and application of true bias facinig and shaped facing.

d. Plackets and Openings Continuous Placket, Bound and faced placket, Zipper placket and Tailored placket

e. Fasteners - Button and Buttonhole, Fabric Loops, press buttons, books and eyes and eyelets.

f. fullness - Darts, tucks, gathers, frills, pleats, ruffles and smocking.

g. Decorative stitches

2. MAKING PATTERN AND CONSTRUCTING THE FOLLOWING GARMENTS

a. Baby's dress

b. Baba suit (shirt with plain sleeve and knicker with elastic)

c. Girls frock with yoke skirt and sleeve

d. Saree petticoat

e. Choli

f. Salwar Kameez

g. Nighty

3. PROJECTS

Constructing a couple of designs of Baby's dress. Baba suit, Girls frock on crepe paper or fabric in small scale.
