Semester II - Practical II - First Aid and Yoga

Duration of Examination: 3 hrs
Maximum Marks: 100
Credits: 4

Unit I

i. Introduction:

Meaning, definition, aim, concept and scope of yoga - schools of yoga.

Unit II

Hastamga yoga:

Yama, nyama, asana, pranayama, prathyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.

Unit III

i. Yoga and physical education:

Aim, meaning - definition and concept of asanas.

ii. Benefits of Asanas:

iii. Types of asanas- physiological;, psychological and therapeutical values.

Unit IV

a. Pranayama:

i. Pranayama meaning, aim definition and concept of pranayama.

ii. Types of pranayama - physiological, psychological and therapeutical ( Any two asanas from each posture).

b. Bandhas, Shatkriyas and Meditation:

i. Bandhas and mudras - meaning, definition and values.

ii. Shat kriya - nose cleaning, stomach cleaning and bowel cleaning process.

iii. Meditation-meaning aim, definition and concept of meditation.

FIRST AID:

Unit V

This is functional practical oriental course. The topics covered in the first aid manual of the St. John Ambulance Association. New Delhi, will be taught.
