Semester V - Core IX - Psychopathology I

Chapter I:

What do we mean by abnormal behaviour? Historical conceptions Of Abnormal behaviour; Biological viewpoint, Psychosocial viewpoint and Sociocultural viewpoint

Chapter II:

Anxiety Disorders: panic disorders & agoraphobia: Specific phobias, Social phobia; Generalized anxiety disorder; Obsessive compulsive disorders

Chapter III:

Somatofoim & Dissociative disorders: Somatization disorder, hypochondriasis, Pam disorder, conversion disorder; Dissociative Amnesia, dissociative fugue, dissociative trance disorder, dissociative identity disorder, multiple personality disorder

Chapter IV:

Personality Disordets - Clinical Features, Types, Causal factors in Personality disorder, Treatment: Anti-Social (psychopathic) Personality - clinical picture, casual factors & treatment

Chapter V:

Mental Retardation & Organic Mental Disorders Definition of mental retardation, levels of mental retardation, Causes - biological, psychosocial deprivatiom Types of Mental Retardation, Treatment Organic mental disorders - delirium, dementias associated with Age - Alzheimer's disorder, causal factors & treatment

Visit to special centers for the intellectually challenged to have a first hand awareness about the condition must be arranged.
