SYLLABUS

Semester VI - Practical IV - Electrical and Seismic Methods

Duration: 3 hrs
Maximum Marks: 100
Credits: 4

(90 hrs)

Electrical Methods

Computation of configuration constant, interpretation of vertical electrical sounding data obtained over a two and three layered earth using S - Line, curve matching and the Auxiliary chart method - Interpretation of SP data obtained over simple structures - Field demonstration of the SP and Resistivity profiling and sounding procedures - Lab measurement of Resistivity of the rock samples.

Seismic Methods

Computation of theoretical response over a layered earth for seismic reflection and refraction response - Interpretation of seismic refraction data obtained over a two layered and three layered horizontal earth - Interpretation of seismic refraction data over a two layered inclined earth - Interpretation of reflection data over a layered earth - Field demonstration of seismic refraction procedure.
