Test Papers of Andhra University SDE MBA (DM) - AMDM - 303 - Management Control Systems - 2004

Third Year

Time : Three hours

Maximum : 75 marks

1. Section A consists of TEN short answer question. The candidate has to answer FIVE questions. The answer shall not exceed 1 page each.
2. Section B consists of FIVE questions. Each question consists of either or choices and the candidate has to answer either (a) or (b) from each question. The answer shall not exceed 5 pages each.

SECTION A - (5 x 3 = 15 marks)

1. Answer any FIVE of the following:

(a) Operating control.
(b) Profit center.
(c) Cost center.
(d) MOU.
(e) Zero Based Budget.
(f) Transfer Pricing
(g) Feed forward control.
(h) Global optima technique.
(i) Performance evaluation of a Govt. Hospital.
(j) Divisionalisation.

SECTION B - (5 x 12 = 60 marks)

Answer ALL questions.

2. (a) What are Responsibility centers? Explain their role and functionality

Or

(b) Distinguish between Management Control and Operational Control.

3. (a) Discuss briefly the various issues of pricing in a non-profit making organization.

Or

(b) Distinguish between the Managerial performance and divisional performance. Explain the factors which are taken into account in measuring divisional performance, but not in managerial performance.

4. (a) Briefly discuss the various elements of control over subsidiaries by an MNC parent. How do they affect the management information and reporting system?

Or

(b) What do you mean by perspective planning and resource allocation?

5. (a) Brief the steps important for preparing a manpower estimate in detail, which would be of value in preparing low budget.

Or

(b) Describe briefly the usefulness of PERT as a project monitoring mechanism.

6. (a) Discuss important manufacturing overhead variance. Who may be fixed responsible for such variances?

Or

(b) How is management and operating control in operation in Brook Bond (India) Ltd. Case - Study?
