2. (a) What is the need to have database servers in DNS ? Explain. (5)

(b) Explain the functioning of the 'Name resolver' in DNS with the help of a diagram. (5)

(c) What is Sliding window protocol ? Explain its working with an example of two bit sliding window. (5)

3. (a) Draw the various fields of an IP header. Explain the process of fragmentation and reassembly of an IP packet in Internet. (10)

(b) Write the importance of ARP and RARP in LAN. (5)

4. (a) Explain the meaning of the statement "TCP is a connection oriented, reliable protocol." Use suitable diagrams to explain the concept of connection oriented protocol. (7)

(b) What is the size of TCP header ? How many packets are exchanged in setting up a TCP connection ? (4)

(c) What are class 'D' addresses ? Why are they used ? (4)

(b) Like IP address, all the hardware addresses are also unique throughout the network. Why is hardware address not used in place of IP address ? Justify your answer. (6)
