Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks

1. Attempt any four of the following questions :

(a) "Balance of Payments should be zero because every transaction is two-sided with debits balancing credits. But, in practice, it will not always be zero". Comment.

(b) What do you mean by deemed exports ? Explain briefly.

(c) "Marine products represent an important item of India's agro exports". Comment.

(d) Enumerate India's competitive advantages in export of chemical products.

(e) What have been the major constraints in lndo-Japanese trade ? Explain briefly.

(f) "In India's capital account there has been a significant shift from debt flows to non-debt flows". Amplify. (5+5+5+5)

2. Describe the major problems faced by Indian exporters and suggest a few measures to overcome these effectively. (15+5)

3. Explain the eligibility criteria for recognising an exporter as an Export House. What are the special benefits and facilities available to them ? (10+10)

4. Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of India's garments sector. What is the future of garment exports from India after annulment of MFA ? (20)

5. Enumerate the problems faced by India's engineering goods exports. Suggest suitable strategies to promote the export of engineering goods from India. (8+12)

6. Discuss India's trade with West Asia and evaluate its future prospects. (14+6)

7. (a) Analyse India's competitive advantages in leather exports.

(b) Outline the measures that can he adopted for enhancing the export of gems and jewellery from India. (8+12)

8. Write short notes on any four of the followlng:(5+5+5+5)
