Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks

1. Attempt any four of the following questions (5+5+5+5)

(a) 'The economies of countries which liberlise their trade policies and learn to compete in the global market grow and develop much faster than those which choose to protect their domestic market. Do you agree or not ? Give reasons.

(b) Enumerate five important features of Indian tariff policy.

(c) What are the major constraints faced by Indian diamond and gold jewellery exporters ? Explain briefly.

(d) Outline the classification of services in the international context.

(e) "India depends heavily on Japanese market for its seafood exports". Substantiate this statement.

(f) Outline the eligibility criteria for recognition of firms as EOUs.

2. Highlight the salient features of India's export policy and state how far it has helped in promoting exports. (20)

3. Describe the recent trends in the composition and direction of India's export trade, and explain briefly the major problems faced by Indian exporters (14+6)

4. Discuss recent policy measures in the area of foreign exchange and their impact on India's balance of payments. (20)

5. "Indian engineering goods Industry has registered a spectacular growth on the export front but it is still beset with a number of problems". Discuss. (20)

6. Describe India's foreign trade position with West Asian countries and evaluate its future prospects. (12+8)

7. Describe the measures adopted by Government of India to enhance agricultural exports. What further strategies would you suggest to strengthen agricultural export activity In India ? (12+8)

8. Write explanatory notes on any two of the following (10+10)

(a) Guidelines for effective export promotion strategies

(b) Indo-US trade

(c) Prospects for India's export of chemicals

(d) India's competitive advantages and disadvantages of service's exports from India

(c) Expiry of MFA : its implications for India's textile exports
