1. Attempt a critical analysis of recent thematic trends in Australian literature. What do these recent developments indicate? Give examples from the texts in your course. (20)
2. Examine The Man from Snowy River critically bringing out the characteristic features of Australian life at the end of the nineteenth century. (20)
3. Discuss some prominent themes that struck the imagination of writers of short fiction in twentieth century Australian literature. (20)
4. Critically analyse Campbell's poem The Austrulion Dream with particular stress on the following questions. (20)
(a) In what way is the poem concerned with democratic issues ?
(b) What is the nature of the Australian dream ?
(c) What is the tone of Campbell's poem ?
5. How does Patrick White project the movement of time in Voss ? Does lime have a bearing on the dreams and visions woven in the text ? (20)
6. "The Quality of Sprawl and Blood display pluralistic cultural contexts." Do you agree with this statement ? Give reasons in support of your answer. (20)
7. Critically comment on the use of metonyms, epiphanies and metaphors in Remembering Babylon. (20)
8. "The Removalists may be looked at as a play that depicts women as object of desire." Discuss giving examples from the text. (20)
