Note : Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks.

1. What is audio editing ? Describe the technique of Cut and Splice Editing. (20)

2. What is Reverberation Time (RT) ? Describe its utility in sound broadcast. (20)

3. Describe the layout and functioning of a studio centre for recording and transmission of various programmes. (20)

4. Explain the concept of Audio Mixer. What are the standard features of an audio mixer ? (20)

5. How are the programmes emanating from the studio-centre transported to the transmitting centre ? Discuss. (20)

6. What are the principles of picking up of sound waves by microphones ? Explain. (20)

7. What is multi-track recording ? Explain the process of multi-track recording. (20)

8. How are the outdoor recording locations classified ? Describe the precautions which need to be taken while recording at these locations. (20)

9. Illustrate with examples the technique of fading of sound in editing. (20)

10. Write short notes on any two of the following : (20)

(a) Multi-purpose studio
(b) Noise level
(c) Announcer's Booth
(d) Balancing of music programmes
(e) Report writing in outdoor recording
