SECTION I

Answer any four of the following questions in a maximum of 600 words each. Each question carries 20 marks.

1. What is Political Theory ? What are the new challenges in Political Theory ? Discuss.

2. Critically examine the inter-relationships of Duties and Rights.

3. Describe the various causes of Political Violence.

4. Critically evaluate Liberalism.

5. Discuss Lenin's contribution to the evolution of Marxism.

6. Delineate the salient features of Conservatism.

SECTION II

7. Write short notes on any two of the following in a maximum of 300 words each. Each carries 5 marks. (2x5=10)
(i) The idea of Differentiated Citizenship
(ii) Democracy: Procedural and Substantive
(iii) Civic Republicanism
(iv) Erosion of State sovereignty

SECTION III

"God, Hitler or Marx" are never wrong. Argue for or against this position taken by a fundamentalist. (maximum 500 words) (10)
