Answer any FIVE questions.
All questions carry equal marks.

1. List the properties of the Normal distribution. Why is it so important?

2. Define the concept of Conditional Probability and independent events.

3. What is meant by statistical decision theory? How is it different from other methods used in decision making?

4. What is a sample survey? Describe the general design of a multi-stage survey.

5. What do you understand by ‘Regression’? What are the properties of Regression Coefficients?

6. Ten students got the following percentage of marks in Mathematics and Statistics:

9. Define Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation. What is it intended to measure? How would you interpret the sign and magnitude of a correlation coefficient?

10. Explain the procedure generally followed in testing of a hypothesis. Point out the difference between one tail and two tail test.

11. What do you mean by bi-variete analysis. What are its types? Explain.

12. From the following results obtain the two regression equations and estimate the yield of crops when the rainfall is 29 cms and the rainfall when the yield is 600 kg.
