Admission Notification for B.V.Sc & A.H., B.F.Sc., and B.Tech (Food Processing Technology) degree courses 2006-07
Applications are invited from the candidates of Tamil Nadu for admission to the following Undergraduate Degree Courses of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for the academic year 2006-07
B.V.Sc & A.H (5 Years)
i) Madras Veterinary college, Chennai
ii) Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal
B.F.Sc (4 Years)
Fisheries College & Research Institute, Thoothukudi
B.Tech.*(Food Processing Technology) (4 years)
Madras Veterinary College/institute of Food and Dairy Technology, Koduvali, Chennai
* Subject to approval of Government
1.ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
1.Qualifying Examination and Minimum Marks Candidates who are applying for B.V.Sc & A.H/B.F.Sc/B.Tech.( Food Processing Technology) degree course should have passed HSC ( 10+2)/CBSCE/Other examinations recognized as equivalent thereto with the marks as prescribed below
(a) ACADEMIC STREATM
For B.V.Sc & A.H./B.F.Sc degree course:
Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: Biology (or) Zoology and Botany
Eligible minimum marks (%) - OC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - BC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - MBC/DNC: 55
Eligible minimum marks (%) - SC/ST: Pass
Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: Chemistry and Physics taken together
Eligible minimum marks (%) - OC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - BC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - MBC/DNC: 55
Eligible minimum marks (%) - SC/ST: Pass
Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: Aggregate of (1) and (2) should not be less than
Eligible minimum marks (%) - OC: 70 (140/200)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - BC: 65 (130/200)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - MBC/DNC: 60 (120/200)

For B.Tech (Food Processing Technology) degree course:

Eligible minimum marks (%) - SC/ST: Pass
Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: Chemistry and Physics taken together

Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: 2. Vocational subjects:
For B.V.Sc & A.H. Poultry/Dairying only
For B.F.Sc Fisheries only
(Theory, Practical I and Practical II taken together)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - OC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - BC: 60
Eligible minimum marks (%) - MBC/DNC: 55
Eligible minimum marks (%) - SC/ST: Pass
Subject studied in HSC/Equivalent courses: Aggregate of (1) and (2) should not be less than
Eligible minimum marks (%) - OC: 70 (140/200)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - BC: 65 (130/200)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - MBC/DNC: 60 (120/200)
Eligible minimum marks (%) - SC/ST: Pass
Vocational stream candidates will be considered in B.V.Sc & A.H. and B.F.Sc. degree courses only against the seats reserved for them
The maximum number of attempts made in passing the qualifying examination is limited to three for SC/ST candidates and two for others.
A candidate to his/her advantage for seeking admission can use the marks obtained in the first improvement alone.
2. AGE LIMIT
Candidates should not have completed the age indicated below as on 01-07-2006
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe: No age limit
Others: 21 Years
No relaxation of age limit is permissible on any grounds
3. OTHER CONDITIONS:
Appearance in Paper 1 (Biology) and Paper 2 (Physical Sciences) of the Academic/Paper 1 (Biology) or Vocational Stream of the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance examination conducted by the Anna University for the year 2006 is a pre-requisite for applying to B.V.Sc & A.H and B.F.Sc admission.
Appearance in Paper 2 (Physical Sciences) and Paper 3 (Mathematics) of the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination conducted by the Anna University for the year 2006 is a pre-requisite for applying to B.Tech (Food Processing Technology) admission.
Applications received from the candidates who have not appeared for the said Entrance Examination will not be considered.
II. MODE OF SELECTION
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the HSC/equivalent examination and the marks obtained in the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination of the Academic/Vocational Steam or as per the Government Orders.
III. APPLICATION FORMS
Separate application form should be used for B.V.Sc & A.H. B.F.Sc and B.Tech (Food Processing Technology) degree courses.
Request letter for application forms should contain the name of the candidate and the course for which the application (B.V.Sc & A.H or B.F.Sc or B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology) is required.
Application form can be had in Person or by post from any one of the following colleges on a written request along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) (Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates) towards the cost of application form including registration drawn in favour of the The Finance Officer, TANUVAS, Chennai-600 051) Payable at Chennai.
1.The Dean, Madras Veterinary College, Vepery, Chennai 600 007
2.The Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal 637 001.
3.The Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi 628 008.
Candidates who desire to have the application by post should send the written request to any one of the above colleges along with the demand draft and a self addressed stamped (Rs.40/-) envelope (Size:37.5 x 28 cm)
To avail the concession n the cost of application forms, SC/ST candidates should write the name of the community in their written request.
Application form can also be had in person in any one of the following centers with a written request:

Demand draft prior to 11.06.2006 will not be accepted
Cash/Cheques/Money Orders/Postal Orders will not be accepted.
Application forms will be issued on all working days from 12-06-2006 to 14-07-2006 as follows:
12.06.2006 to 13.07.2006 between 10.00 am. And 5.45pm.
14.07.2006 between 10.00am and 1.00pm
Application forms will be sent only by ordinary post and the University will not be responsible for non receipt or any postal delay in receipt of application forms.
Filled in applications should reach the Chairman, Admission Committee (UG), TANUVAS, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai 600 051 on or before 14.07.2006 5.45pm
Applications received after the due date and time will summarily be rejected and the Universiy will not be responsible for any postal delay.
