Indian Veterinary Research Institute - Admission Notice for PhD Session 2006-07

A competitive written examination on all India basis for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in the following disciplines will be held at IVRI, Izatnagar (U.P.) on 16July, 2006 (Sunday). The successful candidates in the written examination will have to appear in an interview on 10 August, 2006 (Thursday) at I.V.R.I., Izatnagar. However, sponsored candidates are exempted from written examination.

ELIGIBILITY :

(i) At least 60% marks in aggregate or OGPA 7.00/10.00 or equivalent (55% marks or OGPA 6.45/10.00 or equivalent for S.C. / S.T. candidate) in the degree of Master of Veterinary Science in the concerned discipline. For details also refer Information Bulletin 2006-2007.

(ii) A good knowledge of English language.

(iii) Minimum age limit 21 years as on August 31, 2006.

HOW TO APPLY :

1. Information Bulletin 2006-2007 along with application form can be had personally from the University Office of the Institute on producing a bank draft/banker's cheque of Rs.300/- drawn in favour of "ICAR, Unit IVRI, Izatnagar payable at State Bank of India, CARI Branch (Code No.7027), Bareilly (UP)" or through post by sending requisition to the Asstt. Adm. Officer (Academic), I.V.R.I., Izatnagar-243 122 (U.P.) along with a crossed bank draft of Rs.375/- drawn in favour of : "I.C.A.R., Unit IVRI, Izatnagar payable at State Bank of India, CARI Branch (Code No.7027), Bareilly (U.P.)".

2. The Application Form & Information Bulletin can be made available on website www.ivri.nic.in. The candidates should send Bank Draft amounting to Rs. 800/- (for General candidate) and Rs.700/- (for S.C./S.T. candidate) along with the downloaded the Application Form (Rs.300/- as the cost of the Information Bulletin & Application Form plus Entrance Examination fee Rs. 500/- and Rs.400/- for general and S.C./S.T. candidates respectively.)

1. Sale of Application Forms: 2 May to 31 May, 2006 (by post)

Form and Information Bulletin: 2 May to 6 June, 2006 (at counter)

2. Last date for receipt of application forms duly filled in either by post or at counter: 7 June, 2006 (up to 05.00 P.M.)

3. Entrance Test (for Ph.D.): 16 July, 2006 (Sunday) at Izatnagar

4. Interview: 10 August, 2006 (Thursday) at Izatnagar

5. Commencement of Academic Session: 01 September, 2006 (Friday)

Note:

1. The candidates who have appeared at the Master’s degree examination in the year 2006 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission but they will have to submit documentary evidence of their successful completion of qualifying degree examination including final viva-voce having been completed before the date of registration.

2. 15%, 7.5% and 3% seats are reserved for S.C., S.T. & Physically handicapped candidates respectively, subject to their being otherwise eligible.

3. There is a provision of payment of IVRI Scholarship to the selected candidates for Ph.D. degree programme @ Rs.7,000/- p.m. for three years. The IVRI Scholarship will be granted to only those selected candidates who come through Entrance Test and not to the Sponsored candidates.

4. The candidates seeking admission for PhD/MVSc degree programmes at this Institute as sponsored candidates should be on deputation terms entitling them for full salary and allowances.

5. Postal delay in any matter concerning admission will not be the responsibility of the Institute.

The candidates who are sponsored by their Departments for M.V.Sc. degree programme can also apply in response to this Admission Notice.
