To introduced courses on Nanotechnology

The Andhra University (AU) has joined hands with the Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) and Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in the field of research and development work related to science and technology and engineering. AU has singed an MoU with NSTL as per which the post graduates, research scholars and faculty of the University will be undertaking various research projects for NSTL and DRDO in way that both are benefited.
After signing the MoU with AU, Chief Controller, DRDO, A.Sivathanu Pillai said that universities should become incubators for technology. Initially, the NSTL and AU would take up a project in ‘Development of Nano Ceramic Coating for Marine Stealth Application’ and ‘Development of Nano Lithium Ion Battery. The project works would cost Rs.10 lakhs. The NSTL and DRDO would conduct meetings with AU in every six months and would identify various projects.
The NSTL is aiming to making indigenous Unmanned Underwater Vehicles ((UUV). The expertise of university could also support its aim, Pillai said. AU Vice Chancellor L.Venugopal Reddy and NSTL V.Bhujangarao and top officials were present on the occasion
