Inaugurated at VS Krishna Library in Andhra University

The Andhra University (AU) Vice Chancellor L Venugopal Reddy on Thursday inaugurated the Manuscript Conservation Centre at VS Krishna Library in Andhra University.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the University would extend all possible help in conserving ancient scripts and other valuable texts. Chief Curator of Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad Ahmed Ali said that the Union Ministry of Culture launched National Mission for Manuscripts in 2003 and as a part of it, it has 18 Manuscripts Conservation laboratories at Hyderabad, Mangalore and Rajahmundry. The Librarian of VS Krishna Library, Sasikala said that there were nearly 2500 manuscripts in the library and some of them were in bad shape.
